Summary

Soul development should take precedence over all things. When we choose this as the highest priority in our lives, then we may see in the Law, the great commandment, a special pattern for soul development. This pattern, love of God and neighbor, may be conceptualized as attunement and application. These go together and are always inseparable. Attunement is best practiced in regular periods of meditation. Such meditation must have the quality of a genuine sense of approaching the Divine and inviting Him to enter into our lives. Application is best understood in terms of soul development, as a manifestation of the fruit of the spirit exemplified through the practice of patience with respect to ourselves and to our fellowman.

Taking these steps is not too difficult for us. They do not require more than we are capable of giving. All that is required is a willingness to do what we know to do; and in so doing, we bring immeasurable joy to our neighbor, to ourselves, and indeed to the Father as well.
